Match Day 27 Result : New Salamis 2 - 0 Bushey Sports

This was a great game of football. Bushey Sports long time league leaders were our visitors and they showed why they are fighting close to the top of the League. New Salamis really had to win this game to have any chance of overtaking them in second place, still with the faint hope Letchworth may drop some points.

New Salamis were on top very early on and should have gone in the lead but for a shot hit wide by Leon Mckenzie. Bushey also posed us problems, but for Bobby Smith and the expertly marshalled defence of Lee White and Marcus Rose, thwarting their attacks.

Salamina went in front with a great goal by George Lutaaya. Richard Georgiou slid a ball through the Bushey defence, George went past the centre back rounded the keeper and slotted home for 1-0.

More chances came and Richard Georgiou should have put us 2-0 ahead but skied his shot. Half time 1-0 to Salamina

The second half saw Bushey launch an onslaught of attacks. However they could not breach our defence. If they did, Bobby Smith was on hand to keep them out, and it was this that enabled the reds to go into a 2-0 lead. Ryan Hervel took a free kick from out wide that sailed over the Bushey keepers head for 2-0.

Leon Mckenzie then should have put us further ahead but his chip just sailed over the bar. Salamina ran out 2-0 winners and now with 10 games left the aim is to secure at least 2nd spot.
