Games like these do not come around too often, a 1st vs 2nd top of the table clash. Unbeaten Letchworth were the Reds visitors, only dropping points to the Reds back in September, and the Reds last League game of the season.

Letchworth already crowned champions were given a sporting guard of honour onto the pitch. The game was billed as the championship decider but alas for the Reds it was not to be.

To the game, Letchworth kicked off laid the ball back into the midfield, a long ball to their centre forward who knocked the ball down to his strike partner who struck first time on the volley but Bobby Smith was on hand to save. Letchworth's intent was that they came to win and remain unbeaten. However The Reds area slick passing side, and we showed our class today.

Free flowing football and chances started to flow, George Lutaaya had a shot saved, Richard Georgiou should have scored but headed straight at the keeper. Charlie Georgiou menacing up front. Salamina went ahead from a very direct route. Leon Mckenzie flicked the ball onto Charlie Georgiou who got through on the wrong side of the Letchworth defence, and he was brought down for a penalty. Richard Georgiou stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way for 1-0 to Salamina.

However Letchworth were to equalise 5 minutes later from a rare attack, a cross from the right, and Letchworth's striker scored with a header. 1-1.

Salamina sprung back into action and when Charlie Georgiou won the ball off the Letchworth defence, he twisted one way, then the other and chipped the keeper who got a hand to the ball but could not keep the ball from hitting the back of the net for 2-1. Salamina pressed for a third goal before half time, but could not beat a stubborn Letchworth backline.
Half time 2-1

The second half saw Salamina score inside two minutes. a flowing move, pass, pass, pass, the ball out on the right hand side crossed in by Andreas Chambi, a half cleared header, and Richard Georgiou volleyed high into the Letchworth net 3-1.

Salamina kept pressing for more goals Charlie Georgiou raced through one on one but hit the keepers legs. George Lutaaya had another cleared off the line.

Midway through the half saw a heated exchange that saw Letchworth's main player and top goalscorer sent off for swinging out at a couple of Reds players. The last 20 minutes or so saw Salamina waste chances to go further ahead, but very comfortable seeing out the match. Salamina being the only team to take any points off Letchworth this season. We now look forward to hearing which division we will be promoted to in Step 6.
